An exciting opportunity exists at Pimlico State High School for a Head of Department - Teaching and Learning to join the school leadership team.

As the Head of Department, you will lead the whole-school implementation of the Pedagogical Framework to ensure quality learning outcomes for all students.

You will also lead a team of Pedagogical Coaches to build staff capability in the three levels of planning, effective pedagogy, and classroom management.

Additionally, you will be responsible for new staff inductions, permission to teach processes, early career teacher programs, and preservice teacher placements.

Your Opportunity 

As the Head of Department - Teaching and Learning, you will:

  • Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives
  • Participate in delivering the vision of Early Childhood and State Schools Division
  • Develop the quality of teaching and learning
  • Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

The Head of Department is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate. 

Your Responsibilities 

As the Head of Department - Teaching and Learning, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
