Are you ready to take your career to the next level? The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Software Asset Specialist to join our Software Team within the Hardware and Software Asset Management team. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in managing ICT software assets that underpin critical statewide services and support TMR's strategic objectives.
About Us:
The Software Team is part of the Service Operations section within the Information Technology Branch (ITB). We are dedicated to providing lifecycle management of ICT software assets, enabling TMR staff to achieve their business goals in alignment with the TMR Strategic Plan.
Your Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical expertise and strategic advice to ensure optimal use and compliance of ICT software assets throughout their lifecycle.
• Coordinate and manage Software Asset Management (SAM) activities, ensuring licence compliance, cost-effective utilisation, and alignment with government policies and legal obligations.
• Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate compliance risks and provide timely recommendations.
• Lead the Software Asset function and team, offering professional support, advice and reporting to ITB specialists, projects, management and end users.
• Ensure software asset management systems, processes, and procedures align with industry best practices and ICT software asset management standards.
We're looking for someone with:
• Asset Management Expertise: Proven experience in lifecycle management of enterprise ICT software assets and software asset management principles.
• Technical Skills: Ability to provide technical software solutions, with strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Contract Management Knowledge: Familiarity with ICT enterprise software vendor licence compliance requirements, trends, and lifecycles.
• Engagement Skills: Capability to gather business requirements and provide timely, strategic advice.
• Leadership Abilities: Experience leading technical and strategic team discussions and reviews.
• Continuous Improvement Focus: A track record of monitoring, reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Experience with the ServiceNow IT Service Management Platform.
• ITIL Certification or experience in an ITIL environment.
• Practical skills in reporting compilation.

7. Understand Software As a Service (SaaS) platforms and trends.
8. Can manage accurate data capture, and develop detailed reporting.
