About the Role
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic leadership of Legal Aid Queensland's Business Transformation Unit, ensuring organisational systems, platforms, and processes are fit-for-purpose, effectively leveraged, and aligned to support business operations and long-term strategic goals.
- Develop and implement business and digital transformation strategies, including roadmaps and frameworks that drive innovation, operational efficiency, and improved client and partner outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leadership—including the CEO, Board, and Executive Leadership Team—on the alignment, impact, and direction of business transformation initiatives, supported by high-quality reports, briefings, and submissions that inform decision-making and ensure accountability.
- Lead cross-functional teams and transformation programs, ensuring effective change management, stakeholder engagement, and successful implementation of new technologies and processes.
- Promote a digital-first culture and continuous learning environment by fostering innovation, upskilling, and building digital capabilities across the organisation.
- Shape and influence strategic initiatives by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including other Legal Aid agencies and Queensland Government departments, to support cross-jurisdictional and internal priorities.
- Drive a client-focused approach by using digital tools and user insights to deliver seamless, personalised client and partner experiences.
- Ensure transparent communication of transformation strategies and initiatives across the organisation, promoting awareness, alignment, and engagement.
- Manage governance, risk, and performance of business transformation activities through robust planning, risk mitigation, and compliance with organisational frameworks.
- Prepare high-quality reports, submissions, and briefings to support decision-making and ensure accountability in transformation activities.
- Oversee the division's financial management, including budgeting, cost-benefit analysis, and resource allocation to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and value for investment.
How You Will be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:
- You have experience successfully leading strategic change initiatives, with a strong emphasis on business transformation and process re-engineering, ideally in the legal and/or government sector.
- You have the ability to lead at a high level within a diverse organisation demonstrating both visionary leadership and management within complex regulatory frameworks to achieve effective, high quality and efficient service delivery.
- You generate engagement and commitment by effectively articulating the value and impact of projects to diverse stakeholders, using influencing and persuasion skills to build support and align efforts with strategic objectives.
- Legal Aid Queensland applies the Leadership competencies for Queensland. These may be included in the assessment. This role is mapped to the “Executive” profile. Please refer to the position description for more detail.
Mandatory Role Requirements
There are no mandatory requirements or special conditions for this position, however tertiary qualifications in business, management, or a related field along with recognised change or project management accreditation (or equivalent), are highly desirable.
