The Opportunity
About the role
As our Senior Director Communications and Engagement, you will:
• Lead communication and engagement activities for the department – covering traditional, social and digital media, web, marketing, sponsorship, multimedia services, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications - to manage the integrity of the department's purpose, objectives, narrative and brand.
• Quickly analyse and interpret complex and sensitive information to anticipate, identify and manage reputational, community and stakeholder relations risks and issues and mitigate or escalate as required.
• Lead crisis communication responses and issues management for the department.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships, both internally and externally, to enhance the value of communication activity and promote collaboration and partnerships across the food and fibre supply chain.
• Drive change through the adoption of a continuous improvement mindset, analysing and evaluating projects, and looking for innovative ways to improve the delivery of outcomes in line with strong governance practices.
• Build and retain high levels of trust with the DPI Leadership Board, senior leaders and Minister's Office, providing expert internal and external strategic communication, engagement and marketing advice.
• Proactively facilitate collaboration, cohesion and agility of communication and engagement activities across the department, including with embedded communication and engagement teams, and other Queensland Government agencies to successfully deliver strategic outcomes.
• Drive a culture of performance excellence using and sharing best practice strategies and frameworks, providing strong and effective leadership through mentoring, coaching and capability development.
• Be an active member of the Corporate Leadership Team, contributing to the department's strategic and operational planning, human resource management and financial management.
This role is accountable to the Deputy Director-General Corporate and has direct reports.
