About the role
This role is responsible for engaging with management and staff to embed a contemporary and effective compliance program, with accountability for overseeing and providing objective advice in relation to statutory and regulatory compliance obligations.
Managing the integration and use of compliance tools and processes with other governance systems will be essential to the overall success of the compliance program, as will the application of a risk-based approach to monitor and assess the effectiveness of internal controls for the mitigation of compliance risk across the organisation.
The main functions of this role are:
- Lead the ongoing development and management of an effective compliance framework, including policy and procedures, an Obligations Register and a training curriculum, which is integrated with the overall governance program for the organisation.
- Manage the operations supporting the compliance program, ensuring compliance data is current and visible in the self-service reporting hub and assist in the management of other governance operations as required.
- Support managers to identify, implement and monitor compliance and assurance controls and, where required, direct identified compliance issues to appropriate channels for resolution.
- Ensure the appropriate reporting of compliance breaches or potential breaches to duly authorised agencies.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in leading and managing the development and implementation of good governance practices and processes in a large public sector organisation, particularly in relation to compliance management.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to consider relevant and complex evidence in the coordination and preparation of appropriate compliance responses and implementation plans.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to initiate and drive continuous improvement.
- Commitment and success in planning, implementing, reviewing, and managing changes of varying complexity and scope within a large complex organisation.
- Build and maintain positive relationships and conduct productive engagement at senior levels both internally and externally.
Mandatory Requirements:
- While not mandatory, legal or governance qualifications and/or experience would be well regarded.
