Fleet Maintenance
The Fleet Maintenance is responsible for mechanical services and provides repairs and maintenance of fit for purpose heavy, light and medium commercial fleet vehicles and associated equipment to all members of QFD. Through the full lifecycle management and best practice approach to fleet and equipment management, we ensure all assets and equipment are maintained to meet the complex environment in which they are deployed and utilised, and to meet operational capability and organisational objectives.
Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will be required to assist Motor Mechanics with minor repairs, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of QFD fire appliances, pumps, systems and associated equipment to ensure they meet operational capability and comply with the legislative and manufacturers requirements. You will also assist administrative duties to complete job sheets and data entry to meet service delivery requirements, and adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role

Key requirements
Mandatory requirements
* Valid driver's licence and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.
* Experience in the automotive mechanical or Fabrication industries.
Highly desirable requirements
* Current Medium Rigid drivers' license (or ability to attain prior to appointment).
* Current forklift license (or ability to attain prior to appointment).
* Stores experience ordering and picking parts.
* Small engine maintenance and repair experience.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
* Perform vehicle maintenance duties, including checking and changing all vehicle lubricants and fluids, and the greasing of vehicles to ensure safety and service requirements are met.
* Perform minor mechanical repairs including adjustments to brakes and drive belts and replacement of tyres, bulbs or fuses while under the supervision of a motor mechanic, in adherence with manufacturer's specifications.
* Assist with all logistics activities managing the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles and preparing associated documents to meet service delivery and business requirements.
* Clean work bays, vehicles and undertake other workshop safety procedures to meet compliance with cleaning specifications and workplace health and safety requirements.
* Assist with tasks involving the use of computers and/or electronic devices, to update parts inventories, parts listings and job sheets via an electronic Fleet Maintenance System.
* Participate in ongoing manufacturer and in-house training to maintain competencies and operate in a team environment.
