The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Nurse Practitioners (Emergency) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

 You will

  • Direct patient management: assess, treat, diagnose and discharge for patient groups
  • Contribute to the strategic ambitions and optimise non-clinical management days to ensure we are working at best practice level
  • Coach, develop and mentor nursing staff and future nursing leaders, as well as nurse practitioner trainees
  • Participate in Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Peer Review, Performance and Meetings

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Permanent full time, Permanent part time
  • Base salary ranging from $149 259 - $155 831 per annum, $75.28 - $78.59 per hour

About Us

The Gold Coast Hospital and Health Services' Emergency Care Services (ECS) Division encompasses the Emergency Departments (ED) at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) and Robina Hospital, the Minor Injuries and Illness Centre at the Tugun Satellite Hospital and provides Emergency Nursing Staff to the Queensland Police Service Watchhouses at Southport and Beenleigh. Between the two ED's approximately 190,000 emergency presentations are provided care annually, with the GCUH ED being recognised as one of the busiest mixed ED's in the Southern Hemisphere. 

GCUH is a Level 6 Queensland (QLD) Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF) facility and a Level 1 Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) accredited Trauma facility. GCUH has a large catchment area between Northern New South Wales (NSW) and Gold Coast encompassing suprajacent inland regions of southwestern Queensland and Northern NSW. Robina Hospital provides Level 4 services under the QLD CSCF. Both Robina and GCUH ED's see Adult and Pediatric presentations within slightly different models of care.
