The Senior Advisor Media Communications is a key point of contact for the Agency's media and communications related queries. The position supports the development and implementation of media and communication strategies, campaigns, and associated projects while ensuring provision of consistently high-quality communications frameworks and functionality that meets QCS, Government and strategic media and communication objectives.
In this role you will:
• Work closely with the Manager Media and Manager Communications to support the management and implementation of media and communication strategies that contribute to the organisation being positioned as a responsive and contemporary agency.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the role and functions of the agency and an understanding of how these relate in media and communications contexts.
• Manage and coordinate media and communication projects from concept through to completion.
• Research, write and edit content (i.e. media releases, speeches, presentation, website content, articles, updates and similar) that is accurate, timely, and achieves contextual understanding respective of audience.
• Provide high-level media advice, issues and crisis management support to Ministerial offices, the Commissioner and senior officers.
• Undertake day-to-day liaison with the media on matters relating to Queensland Corrective Services.
• Work closely with Ministerial staff to prepare and implement media relations programs.
• Proactively collaborate across corporate and operational teams to ensure alignment of media and communication frameworks and activities with Queensland Government's and QCS's priorities.
• Identify pre-emptive opportunities to promote organisational initiatives and achievements through media and/or communications mediums and develop relevant strategies or campaigns.
• Promote the use of media and communications templates, reference guides, language / writing style, and/or corporate directives to increase awareness and usage across the organisation.
• Collate and use data to monitor success or improvements required of media and communication campaigns; such data will be used to contribute to reporting requirements.
• Undertake media monitoring tasks as part of an issues management strategy.
• Assist with the development and implementation of policies, protocols and standards.
The role description provides the minimum requirements for the role. The incumbent may be required to undertake other duties as required outside of these primary accountabilities.
