About the Role:

As the Senior Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and review of the department's financial reporting policies, procedures, and practices. Your work will help optimise resource allocation and financial management across the department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the deliverables to support the scope and objectives of financial policies and procedures within a large, decentralised organisation.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure innovative best practice policy and procedures solutions are developed and approved whilst building and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Research, analyse, evaluate financial issues and prepare reports, briefing materials and correspondence for submission to senior management.
  • Be a team member that fosters a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement for staff.
  • Make effective use of individual and team capabilities through working collaboratively and negotiating responsibility for work outcomes.
  • Support the Manager in implementing continuous improvement processes and monitoring best practice policies and procedures.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Manager or Director, consistent with the responsibilities of the role.

About You:

  • Well-developed written and communication skills
  • A strong interest in policy and financial governance requirements
  • Excellent time management skills

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, it would be highly desirable for the successful applicant to possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in accountancy, commerce or business management
  • Current membership with an accredited professional body, such as CPA Australia (Certified Practicing Accountants) or CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand).
