About our Pharmacy Service 

The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services 7 days a week. Our team of approximately 80 pharmacists are assisted in their roles by over 40 support persons comprising pharmacy assistants, administration officers, purchasing and stores personnel. The dispensary at each of the two hospital campuses is also equipped with automated dispensing robots to facilitate dispensing, distribution and inventory management activities.

About your new role

As a valued member of the Pharmacy Service, you will operationally manage and provide strategic direction and leadership in the delivery of pharmacy services to a range of clinical units under the prevue of Subacute Medicine across all applicable sites within GCHHS, ensuring adherence to clinical service standards and service delivery objectives in medication management. This includes

  • Ensuring service delivery is in accordance with contemporary professional, legislative and quality standards
  • Managing, mentoring and overseeing a team of HP4 pharmacists (and HP3 Pharmacists rotating into this team)
  • Contributing to the strategic planning of and advocacy for pharmacy services and appropriate medication management practices across the health service.
  • Leading and participating in clinical research and Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) projects

Qualifications

  • A tertiary degree in Pharmacy
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Driver Licence
  • Advanced and broad specialist clinical knowledge and skills relevant to General Medicine and Aged Care Services
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $144 991 - $151 289 per annum
