The CAFMG manages the state-wide property, planning and asset management requirements for the Queensland Police Service (QPS), which includes a broad range of property assets including police facilities, office accommodation, housing training facilities, fleet workshops and warehousing.
Manages the property portfolio on behalf on behalf of the QPS, you will work closely with a talented team of planning and property professionals on the delivery, strategic overview, management and reporting for a range of complex land transactions, including acquisitions, divestments and lease arrangements. The role also oversees the department's sustainability initiatives and the management of a significant housing portfolio.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Provide expert technical and strategic advice, direction and policy recommendations to key stakeholders on delivery of property and leasing programs.
- Lead and manage the delivery of property services, lease management and strategic investigations to ensure delivery of services are in line with whole-of-government legislation and policy, achieve value for money and meet organisational asset management requirements.
- Manage the development and reporting of forward programs of work to ensure operational and strategic objectives are met.
- Identify and mitigate against risks and issues that may impact on the successful implementation and delivery of property and leasing programs.
- Manage, prepare and review complex reports, submissions and briefings and ensure accurate and appropriate response to a range of correspondence in accordance with departmental requirements.
- Manage cost centre budgets and reconcile project expenditure at program level through monthly reporting to ensure effective control of progress and expenditure throughout the duration of the program.
- Develop and maintain communication channels, liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders and clients to meet program delivery, key objectives and services.
- Foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment for staff, which encourages commitment, skills development and professional growth and continuous improvement.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
There are no mandatory requirements for this role, however, the following would be highly regarded:
- Experience in property transaction management and/or relevant qualifications in Town Planning, Property Economics, Valuation, Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Sound understanding of benefits realisation and project management concepts.
- Experience in strategic planning and collaboration activities in asset or property management in a large, complex organisation.
