We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team and be responsible for the management of medium to high value and medium to high complexity category management activities to deliver value for money through the implementation of best practice procurement governance and contracting processes.

As the Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and implementing Facilities management and associated category strategies and plans that support the delivery of best practice category management outcomes. You will also be responsible for project managing the implementation of planned procurement initiatives utilising relevant value creation levers (e.g. reduce scope, standardise products, strategic sourcing, aggregation of demand etc.), putting in place transparent benefits realisation reporting and for ensuring that robust contractual arrangements are executed that lock in the procured value. 

What you'll do

  • Drive the development and implementation of category plans and initiatives, based on agreed customer needs and priorities that maximise the value secured from each dollar spent.
  • Develop category, product and supplier knowledge databases to inform sub-category strategies. Ensure adequate analysis of customer requirements is undertaken to underpin category strategies and to support effective supplier negotiations.
  • Share knowledge and best practice gained within the region. Manage peer relationships to drive maximum state-wide benefit from initiatives.
  • Project manage the implementation of planned procurement initiatives, utilising relevant value creation levers such as reduction in scope or standardisation of products.
  • Ensure standard procurement processes that comply with Queensland Health governance requirements are adhered to, whilst also identifying any opportunities to improve those processes.
  • Provide additional support as necessary to the Director Service Delivery, Procurement Manager to support the delivery of overall state-wide and regional strategies and plans.

About you

We are searching for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing categories of spend, applying category management processes, developing sourcing strategies, business cases and category plans.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing contract and supplier management strategies and techniques, including strong negotiation skills and ability to successfully manage tender evaluation processes (leading to contract award for complex tenders).
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities to improve the value delivered from every dollar spent in delivering the initiatives required to secure that value.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex customer and supplier issues, including the ability to resolve supplier performance issues; support internal customers in the development of complex specifications; and ensure materials/services are delivered according to contract.
