About the role
The Staff Specialist Orthopaedics provides clinical care to patients requiring Orthopaedic Services within the West Moreton Health, with an emphasis on acute trauma in a non-tertiary environment. Staff Specialist Orthopaedics will manage the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable service to ensure appropriate and good quality patient care.
This includes outpatients, inpatients, elective and emergency Orthopaedic Surgery, including participation in Trauma lists. In addition, the Staff Specialist Orthopaedics provides professional leadership within the specialty area of Orthopaedics and provides training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members as part of a multidisciplinary team.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge of current medical practices and issues, and evidence of an appropriate level of expertise in the skills of the discipline of Orthopaedic Surgery.
- Demonstrated ability to review, analyse and evaluate patient care for the identification of appropriate treatment and investigations.
- Well-developed communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal skills) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and hospital clients from a variety of backgrounds.
- A personal commitment to the maintenance of high standards in the clinical care to patients and proven ability to react promptly to emergency or urgent situations impacting upon patient care.
- Ability to practice medicine in a cross-cultural environment.
- A subspecialist interest in paediatric or upper limb surgery will be highly regarded.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
