Role details

The Division of Patient Flow and Access Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Director of Nursing to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Director of Nursing and Operations is part of the senior management team for operations at Mackay Base Hospital, and across the HHS for specified portfolios and programs.

The Director of Nursing and Operations has responsibility for all staff across expansive clinical services and complex patient demographics across MHHS. The role provides:

  • Professional expertise in operations and nursing leadership for the overall planning, coordination and direction of evidence-based nursing services within the portfolio of Operations Mackay and relevant HHS portfolios, to ensure safe, clinically effective, consumer-centred nursing care.
  • Leadership and management of all staff reporting to the position.
  • Leadership in nursing care to facilitate quality patient outcomes in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service standards, professional standards and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Support to the Executive Director of Operations and Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery role.

The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
