About the Role
As Executive Project Director, you will lead a significant project to replace Legal Aid Queensland's (LAQ's) core business systems, LAQ Office and Grants Online. This is an important technology project that requires the expertise of an experienced executive with in-depth business knowledge. The business case and project artefacts have been prepared and funding has been secured for this 2-year project. This role will lead this complex project through procurement to implementation.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the Legal Services System (LSS) Project to replace LAQ's core business systems.
  • Make critical business and policy decisions that influence the functioning of the new system.
  • Build a team with the skills and experience to successfully deliver this complex project.
  • Deliver solutions that enhance efficiency, usability and client service.
  • Lead the procurement, evaluation and selection of the solution provider and implementation partner and manage the engagement process.
  • Lead the project in accordance with the project plan, benefits realisation plan, communication and stakeholder management plan, and risk management plan.
  • Oversee project progress and proactively manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead the change to provide a smooth transition and adoption of the new systems and integration with existing systems.
  • Provide advice and information to the LSS Project Board and Executive Leadership Team to inform decisions about the project.
  • Prepare and present briefing notes, reports and other project artefacts to the LSS Project Board.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

How You Will be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following capabilities:

  • You have business knowledge with a commitment to client-centric design and service improvement, leveraging data, insights, and digital tools to align technology solutions with strategic objectives and deliver measurable business value.
  • You have experience leading large-scale, high-risk transformation programs from inception to delivery, ideally within the public sector or legal services environments.
  • You are skilled in engaging with executive leadership, boards, and multi-agency stakeholders to gain alignment, influence decisions, and resolve conflicts, and you bring broad knowledge of corporate functions including financial management, human resources, and organisational governance frameworks.
