RoadTek are seeking a Designer (Electrical) to contribute to the design and delivery of electrical infrastructure for road projects, including Traffic Signals, Lighting, and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
RoadTek is a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads. We provide transport infrastructure solutions for projects across Queensland. This permanent full-time position reports to the Principal Design Engineer (Electrical) and involves working on multiple projects, preparing both preliminary and detailed construction designs.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Work on multiple and complex projects through all phases of the project cycle to ensure services meet all objectives, including integrated management systems.
• Ensure you have a detailed understanding of project responsibilities and how they interlink with the current and future direction of the organisation by:
o Meeting all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements.
o Utilising currency of knowledge and standards of road infrastructure processes.
o Delivering design work within timeframes an in accordance with project and technical requirements.
o Preparing preliminary and detailed designs using AutoCAD, Perfect Lite, AGi32 and other relevant design tools.
• Ensure all design work is undertaken with Registered Professional Engineer of Qld (RPEQ) supervision and complies with applicable standards.
• Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with stakeholders to
ensure design expectations, standards and project objectives are met.
• Acts in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. Model ethical behaviour and consistently apply ethical standards to self and others.
To succeed in this role:
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Associate Degree in electrical engineering.
• Applicants must possess a current, valid Queensland manual "C" class driver's licence or equivalent to conduct site inspections and conduct field audits.
Highly Desirable requirements
• High level knowledge and experience using current AutoCad software in the road design environment, for traffic systems detailed design.
• Experience with road specific lighting design software for Rate 2 and Rate 3 lighting designs.
