About the School
Townsville Community Learning Centre (TCLC) is a State Special School located in Mundingburra, Townsville, providing specialised education for students aged 6 to 18 with severe intellectual and multiple impairments. Established in 2002 following the merger of Mundingburra and Aitkenvale Special Schools, TCLC offers a supportive and inclusive environment where experienced staff deliver personalised learning programs tailored to each student's needs. The school is committed to fostering growth, independence, and wellbeing, making it an ideal place for educators passionate about making a real difference.
About the Role
As Head of Department (Curriculum) at Townsville Community Learning Centre, a vibrant State Special School, you will inspire and lead curriculum development aligned with school and departmental goals. You'll champion high-quality teaching and learning, drive innovative practices, and foster strong, positive connections among students, teachers, and the wider community to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department (Curriculum, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the relevant curriculum areas or whole school program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
