Clinical Nurse - Peripheral Intravenous Management and Mentorship Service (PIMMS)

The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of paediatric patients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. This role works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is pivotal in the planning, managing and delivering of specialist PIVC insertions and nursing care. The CN provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research. The role supports in management activities including portfolio responsibilities.

About the Team

The Peripheral Intravenous Management and Mentorship Service (PIMMS) is a nurse-led service which delivers expert clinical practice and consultative services in peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) insertion and management across all paediatric specialty areas at QCH. PIMMS also provides educational opportunities and support for clinical staff training in ultrasound guided PIVC insertion. The service is incorporated within the Vascular Access and Management Service (VAMS) and provides care 5 days a week currently, with potential to expand. It is part of the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management and works collaboratively within this team.

About the Role

In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values.

You'll fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health) Award - State 2015 - Generic Level Statements (GLS) Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 and the Queensland Health and Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
