Health Compliance Officer

If so, come and join RSHQ in our Health Strategy and Compliance team who have a temporary opportunity for a Health Compliance Officer.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering against a broad range of occupational health objectives including hazards across all resource industry sectors including coal mining, mineral mines and quarries, and petroleum and gas operations.
In particular the role will work closely alongside RSHQ's inspectorates and focus on several health hazards including fatigue, fitness for work matters, drugs and alcohol, and psychosocial hazards.

You will use your specialist expertise in leading development of best practice risk management guidance as well as compliance and enforcement initiatives that assess regulatory obligations and effectiveness of controls, stakeholder engagement, investigating non-conformances, reported incidents and complaints.
It would be highly beneficial to have knowledge and expertise regarding managing the risk of workplace fatigue, fitness to work, drug and alcohol or other broader occupational health hazards, such as managing risks from new or less understood exposures. This will assist in providing effective industry responses as a subject matter expert and support the delivery of related occupational health and hygiene compliance objectives to protect workers.
Experience in investigation processes and regulatory compliance activities, including leading design and implementation of audits, investigations, taking enforcement action and administrative decision-making, using a risk-based and data-driven approach, and high-quality research and report writing would be highly regarded.
The role works closely alongside RSHQ's inspectorates and engage with a range of stakeholders across the resource sectors which may include workers, operators, industry and stakeholder representatives and medical practitioners, requiring excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. The role directly provides benefit to the health of Queensland resource sector workers, which requires a highly dedicated and motivated officer to ensure this important value is delivered.
The successful candidate may be required to undergo any pre-employment checks including psychometric profiling, disciplinary history and criminal history that may be undertaken.
