Start a new journey with us! The Children’s Sunshine Ward (CSW) has been proudly caring for the children of West Moreton since 1919. The CSW is comprised of 23 beds and operates a 24 hour acute in patient service, 365 days a year. The ward provides a high standard of care to children and young persons from birth to sixteen years of age requiring acute medical or surgical intervention. The CSW also provides day surgical and day medical procedures with an expanding procedural sedation program.

About the role
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to children and young persons within The Children's Sunshine Ward setting.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of paediatric and young persons care, delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
- Demonstrated ability to role model excellent standards of comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care and documentation to facilitate quality patient outcomes, in accordance with National Safety and Quality Health Service and professional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
- Demonstrated ability to support and lead quality improvement and research initiatives within the work unit, contributing to the use of evidence based practice to facilitate improved patient outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to-day changes.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Minimum 3 years practising as a level 5 Registered Nurse
