Senior Advisor
Specialist Disability Programs; Inclusion Programs and Partnership; Service Delivery – Disability Services; Brisbane/Maroochydore and Cairns
The Senior Advisor will work collaboratively to deliver functions of Specialist Disability Programs maximising access to and utilisation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) by at-risk Queenslanders. This is a multidisciplinary, specialist team providing collaborative leadership and problem solving for people with disability who need support navigating multiple complex service systems or have had limited or no engagement with disability and/or universal services. The team works intensively with clients alongside their existing services and stakeholders to support their access and utilisation of appropriate disability supports.

As a Senior Advisor you will:
- Deliver a high-quality specialist advice and support to vulnerable and marginalised people with complex disability support needs to access and utilise their NDIS plans and work with their supporting stakeholders.
- Work with mainstream and specialist service colleagues to analyse available evidence of disability and develop plans to deliver intensive and specialist supports to assist people with disability to navigate the NDIS access, planning and utilisation pathways, alongside existing mainstream and secondary services.
- Facilitate case conference style meetings with key stakeholders, including other government departments, non-government service providers and specialist disability services practitioners to secure commitments by relevant stakeholders to support client centred solutions.
- Work with colleagues to deliver appropriate disability assessment service solutions including facilitating contributions by external clinicians and health professionals as required.
- Represent the department at appropriate networks and meetings, including presenting information and delivering training to community members, non-government providers and Queensland Government worker to further assist people with disability to access the NDIS.
- Actively participate in and contribute to regular meetings and discussions with team representatives to inform future planning processes and strategies to meet the needs of vulnerable and marginalised people with complex disability support needs, including providing advice to Manager and senior leadership.
- Contribute to and maintain program reporting systems and undertake reporting priorities as required.
- Develop and deliver case studies and capacity building activities to share knowledge of learnings and business processes with key government and non-government stakeholders.
- Perform other tasks as required by senior leadership.
Role specific/technical skills:
- Knowledge of the disability service system, including NDIS service delivery across access, planning and service engagement and awareness of challenges and barriers experienced by people with disability in engaging with mainstream services.
- Knowledge of the Queensland child protection system, including its legislative framework, policies, and practices, with a particular focus on the supports available to children with disability with the child protection system, and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by children with disability in out-of-home care.
- Ability to collaborate with Child Safety stakeholders and initiatives to build the knowledge and capability of the child protection sector in navigating the NDIS and disability service systems.
