In the role of Support Officer, you will be part of a team assisting the delivery of the Commission’s statutory functions, principally by providing excellent client and administrative services in response to contact from members of the public and the legal profession, as well as internal administrative support. Confidentiality and professionalism are essential to this critical frontline role.

The role is in a busy office environment with increased demand on our regulatory functions. It is an opportunity to work with assessment officers, investigators and litigators in the Commission’s discharge of its statutory functions in regulating the legal profession and promoting and enforcing the professional standards, competence and honesty of the legal profession in Queensland.

You will work as part of the Commission's frontline client service providers and broader complaints handling team with key responsibilities that require the ability to:

  • Provide prompt, consistent and courteous service by telephone, email and in person, in a complaints-based environment to clients who are often aggrieved
  • Provide high level interpersonal and communication skills to identify and manage client needs by the use of effective questioning and communicating effectively with and managing the expectations and demands of a wide range of internal and external clients ranging from senior members of the legal profession, through to legal firm clients and other members of the public who may have a limited understanding of the legal system and processes
  • Clearly and concisely summarise information obtained from telephone calls, emails and correspondence then enter this information into the Commission's case management system using superior time management skills
  • Provide administrative support to the Commission which includes mail management, data entry as well as ordering and maintaining office supplies
  • Provide records management support which will include creating files, filing documents, scanning, photocopying, and archiving of records
  • Provide support to the Commission's functions and procedures which includes updating the Commission's website, document templates, fact sheets and regulatory guidelines, and where able, assisting with graphic design and technology-based updates of such media
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Commissioner or senior staff from time to time
  • Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
