About the Capability Branch:

The Capability branch is located in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.

The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.

The Teaching Expertise team makes links between the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, research and system expectations to provide ways for educators to build their professional expertise across their careers. We develop and deliver professional learning that targets the day-to-day work of teachers, including the Early career teacher flagship program: Starting Successfully.

The role of Senior Project Officer is offered on a full-time permanent basis based in the Brisbane CBD Office.

About the role

As a Senior Project Officer, you will play an important role in leading and coordinating the delivery of high-quality professional learning for teachers.

Key functions of this role include:

  • Planning, coordinating and operationalising teacher capability programs, including project managing activities to meet key objectives and timelines.
  • Supporting program and project monitoring and evaluation activities to gather insights, support data-informed decision making, embrace innovation (including through use of digital tools and platforms), meet program objectives and achieve continuous improvement.
  • Building and sustaining productive collaborative relationships with corporate and school-based staff, key internal and external stakeholders, and other partners to support effective implementation of teacher capability programs and initiatives.
  • Supporting the administration and organisation of program and project activities, including communications, procurement, financial monitoring, and reporting.
  • Preparing documentation, reports, presentations and other written correspondence.

The Senior Project Officer reports to the Manager - Teaching Expertise, Capability Branch.

Responsibilities Include:

The following desirable skills would be highly regarded although not mandatory:

  • Experience in designing digital learning, including using platforms such as Articulate Rise and Canva.
  • Experience in platforms such as Content Manager/TRIM, Corporate Travel Management, SAP.
  • Knowledge of government processes including procurement, finance, human resources, and travel.
  • Experience in MS Office programs including MS Teams, MS Excel and MS OneNote.

  • Demonstrate project management skills and the ability to drive the operationalisation of new projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and organisation skills and can work across a number of priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Stimulate ideas and innovation and share suggestions that contribute to the design of new solutions and new ways of working.
  • Use lessons learned and data analysis skills to gather insights and inform decision making and future practice.
  • Enjoy working with a diverse team and stakeholders to deliver outcomes and make a positive impact in education.
