The purpose of the Application Support Advisor is to provide support and training for users of the MSQ ships scheduling system (QSHIPS) and the vessel traffic surface picture system (Maritime Control).

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Co-ordinate responses for Vessel Traffic Management (VTM) Unit reporting and statistics requirements.
• Manage all operational aspects of the QSHIPS system, including identification and development of system improvements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of operational procedures for the VTM unit.
• Develop and deliver training to external and internal users of the QSHIPS system.
• Provide application support to all users.
• Liaise with the system vendors and ITB to ensure delivery of contracted services.
• Testing of updates, new releases and fixes to both the QSHIPS and Maritime Control systems to ensure that they are suitable for the production environment and then manage the rollout of those updates.

We're looking for:
• Experience with providing high level technical knowledge, expert advice and support for software applications used in the Vessel Traffic Service centres.
• The ability to oversee the provision of 24/7 on call support for the VTS software applications.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management skills to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders within Information Technology Branch (ITB), internal TMR business units, internal and external users and software vendors.
• Experience in service management and service operations (Application Support).
• Ability to identify operational needs, problems, opportunities and then develop solutions and recommendations of improvements.
• Ability to develop and manage, application maintenance tasks, support procedures and application acceptance tests.
