The Executive Director, Games Co-ordination, Olympic and Paralympic Games Office, is a critical leadership role that will lead and oversee the implementation and evolution of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Brisbane 2032) Games Co-ordination, including high profile and intricately complex portfolio, program and project management (P3M).

As part of the primary coordinating entity for the planning and delivery of Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this role is a once in a lifetime opportunity to optimise the delivery of long-term economic, social and environmental opportunities leading up to Brisbane 2032.

You will work in partnership with representatives from international and national Games Delivery Partners and stakeholders across government, to develop and implement fit-for-purpose solutions to ensure the Brisbane 2032 portfolio of initiatives are governed, planned and delivered effectively.

The position holds operational responsibility for oversight of the Queensland Government's $3.32 Billion investment and expenditure in the 2032 Games.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and provide executive oversight of the establishment, implementation and maintenance of whole-of-Government, fit-for-purpose Brisbane 2032 governance arrangements, standards, processes and practices on behalf of Games Delivery Partners to ensure effective coordination and integration of the government's portfolio of work relating Brisbane 2032.
  • Build and mobilise collaboration across and within international and national stakeholders spanning state and federal agencies, local governments, the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee, and other Games Delivery Partners to ensure the strategic objectives of OPGO are realised.
  • Lead and provide executive oversight of the development and maintenance of, and reporting against, the consolidated Brisbane 2032 Games Coordination Plan, ensuring delivery partners are held accountable. Conduct dependency monitoring, risk, issue, opportunity and change management and manage the integrated schedule.
  • Deliver expert strategic advice and support to the Director-General, Deputy Director-General and Minister on matters relating to Brisbane 2032 governance, reporting, portfolio, program and project management functions.

  • Effectively manage and sustain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, representing the government's interests.
  • Ability to remove systematic barriers to collaboration and implement strategies to build strong and enduring alliances for joint delivery of objectives.
  • Act as a skilful negotiator, using compelling arguments and evidence to persuade stakeholders toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Make insightful decisions - demonstrate the ability to analyse complex challenges, identify relevant issues, formulate and analyse innovative options for solutions, and forecast and negotiation recommended outcomes.
  • Drive accountability and outcomes - demonstrate accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence and transparency. Superior experience and a record of achievement in leading financial management, policy programs, legal and governance advice in high profile, complex programs or mega events.
  • Demonstrate sound governance - maintain a high standard of practice through governance and risk management.
  • Demonstrate accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence and transparency.
