Spinifex State College is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Transport Officer to join our team at the Mount Isa Education and Training Precinct - Boarding Campus. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from school each morning and afternoon, as well as coordinating travel to the airport and nearby towns at the beginning and end of each school term. The position also involves basic upkeep of college vehicles, including organizing regular maintenance and safety inspections. About The Role  

This part-time role (38 hours per fortnight at 0.5 FTE) requires the successful candidate to work split shifts each weekday: transporting students to two campuses in the morning and returning them to the Boarding Campus in the afternoon. Additional responsibilities include coordinating travel to the airport and nearby towns at term transitions, as well as ensuring basic upkeep and safety compliance for college vehicles.

As the Transport Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:  

  • This role requires the successful candidate to work split shifts: in the morning to transport students to 2 campuses and again in the afternoon for collection and return to the Boarding Campus.
  • In addition, it involves transporting students between the residential campus, home locations, essential services and extracurricular activities.
  • Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures to oversee the maintenance, servicing and compliance of Boarding vehicles, including buses and cars.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and coordinate repairs as required.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs and fuel records.
  • Conduct risk assessments for travel routes and ensure all vehicles meet safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate transport records, log books and incident reports.

Highly desirable Skills and experience

Highly desirable but not mandatory skills and experience are:

  • Holding an LR licence or obtaining one before commencement.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Experience with vehicle inspections and coordinate repairs as required.
