About the opportunity

Queensland Health delivers healthcare to over 5 million people – making healthcare accessible where and when Queenslanders need it. In 2025–26, the Queensland Government is investing a record $33.1 billion into the Queensland Health system, reflecting the priority placed on delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare across the state.

The Queensland Government is also empowering local and clinical decision-making across the Queensland Health system – ensuring that services align with the priority health needs of community members.

Hospital and Health Boards govern the delivery of healthcare across 16 regions. Board Chairs and members play a vital leadership role in their local community, ensuring services are efficient, effective and responsive to community needs.

These Boards are accountable to the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and must perform the functions in accordance with the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011.

Hospital and Health Board Chairs and members are non-executive positions.
