The Strategic Planning and Analytics team within People and Culture (Corporate Services) delivers workforce analytics, reporting, and strategic workforce planning. Our work enables the Department to make informed decisions and achieve its strategic and operational objectives. As a Workforce Analyst, you will contribute to high quality, timely, and accurate analytics products, services, and insights, while supporting HR data analytics and warehousing projects.
About you:
- Data Analysis and Insights: You will extract, manipulate, and analyse workforce data using tools like SQL, Python, R, and Power BI to deliver actionable insights for decision making and workforce planning.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: You will use your strong communication skills to build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to clearly convey insights and adjust messaging for diverse audiences.
- Delivering for Queensland: You will meet workforce reporting needs and support analytics projects, effectively prioritising tasks and deliverables in collaboration with the team and stakeholders.
Week in the life of a Workforce Analyst:
Imagine starting your week as a Workforce Analyst in the Strategic Planning and Analytics team, where your work directly shapes the Department's ability to make informed, strategic decisions that are grounded in evidence.
- You dive into workforce data, extracting, manipulating, and analysing workforce datasets using tools like SQL, Python, R, and Power BI. You aim to uncover meaningful and accessible insights that will guide decision making and strategic workforce planning.
- You meet with stakeholders from across the Department. Whether they're technical experts or less familiar with data, you adjust your communication style to ensure your insights and intended outcomes resonate. You share updates on key reporting products, seek feedback to refine your approach, and collaborate on upcoming projects. Building and sustaining these productive relationships is vital to ensuring the delivery of quality data, analytics and reporting.
- On quieter days, you deeply focus on projects like developing Power BI dashboards, aligning them with stakeholder needs, or updating procedures and training materials to enhance understanding of reporting tools. You might also deliver awareness sessions, guiding teams through workforce BI reports.
- Throughout the week, you prioritise your tasks efficiently, balancing individual deliverables with team commitments. You also contribute to regular data cleansing activities, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of workforce data. As you work, you embody the team's and the Department's commitment to equity, respect, and inclusion, enabling a supportive and performant workplace culture.
By week's end, you've delivered actionable insights, supported key projects and strengthened a workplace that values diversity.
