The Principal Data Scientist/Transport Modeller provides technical expertise, leadership and support for the development and application of integrated land use, demographic and transport modelling and analysis tools to enable evidence-based decision making. You will apply specialist skills in demographic, economic and transport and/or data science analysis and modelling, combined with strong leadership, mentoring, collaboration, and innovation to guide a team of technical experts. You will lead and manage as small team, and oversee related technical, project, contract and relationship management, including the acquisition, collation and dissemination of data products and services.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Leading, managing and developing a small team, including providing clear direction, support and performance feedback to direct reports.
• Overseeing the collection, collation and analysis of demographic, land use, transport and economic datasets to meet team objectives.
• Leading or supporting the procurement, management and licensing of data, products and services.
• Ensuring the timely delivery of fit-for-purpose products by working in an agile work environment, iteratively developing outputs based on stakeholder feedback.
• Communicating the sensitivities and limitations of data, analyses, models, storage and visualisation tools to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Supporting demographic, transport and land use data development, analysis and modelling for Policy, Planning and Investment Division and other divisions' planning and business case development.
• Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to deliver collaborative, customer focused solutions.
• Coordinating reports, correspondence and briefings on demographic and land use issues, trends and opportunities to support transport planning activities.
