The role: 

Queensland Health is currently undertaking several of the largest health ICT programs and projects ever seen in Australia. The largest of these, the Digital Hospital Program (DHP) is a visionary program which continues to enable clinical services and enhance our technological capability by extending the availability of the ieMR into more hospitals and community care venues.

This position represents an opportunity for you to make your mark on the future of healthcare and help to shape the future of health centres across Queensland, for Queenslanders for generations to come. Based in the Program Management Office – POAT, this position is support and management focused, it is not a delivery role.

Driven by a desire to improve healthcare outcomes, you will have vision and motivation and will be able to use exceptional communication skills to provide strategic advice to both your team and our stakeholders. 

Reporting to the Program Director, and working under the supervision of the POAT Project Manager, the Senior Project Officer will support and coordinate the delivery of  work packages and projects, ensuring solutions delivered are responsive to customer needs and sustainable in an enterprise environment, while ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with best practice guidelines and the Queensland Health formal project management approach and methodologies, to enable the achievement of consistent and quality project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage, monitor and report on project related trends and performance against project plans and schedules.
  • Promote and ensure use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools, including benefits realisation and risk and issue management, to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces.
  • Oversee the delivery of various enhancement and efficiency work packages being delivered by the Project Operations and Advisory Team

Is this the opportunity for you?

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in an IM/ICT project environment, including planning, risk management, reporting, budgeting and project closure, and an ability to plan and coordinate the delivery of specialised work packages. 
  • Knowledge and application of appropriate project management methodologies (preferably PRINCE2), and an ability to provide sound advice and recommendations on the use of appropriate project management techniques, methodologies and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage one or more defined communication channels and/or stakeholder groups, and facilitate the business change decision-making processes, and the planning and implementation of change.
  • Proven effective consultation, facilitation, written and oral communication skills for use in a complex program/project environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment developing effective working relationships with team members.
  • Previous experience in a Program Management Office environment supporting a large and complex program.
