Assistant Coordinator-General
About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Coordinator-General and leading a team of around 50, the Assistant Coordinator-General plays a pivotal role in enabling and delivering complex, large-scale projects that drive Queensland's infrastructure and economic growth. The role requires exceptional leadership, sophisticated stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of both public and private sector dynamics.

The successful candidate will influence across government and industry to deliver strategic development programs in areas such as transport, water, critical minerals, industrial land, and regional infrastructure. With wide-ranging powers under the State Development and Public Works Organisation Act 1971 and the Strong and Sustainable Resource Communities Act 2017, this role is positioned to make a profound social, economic and environmental impact for Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:
This role will suit a strategic, outcomes-focused executive with the capacity to operate confidently at the highest levels of government and industry. The Assistant Coordinator-General will:
- Lead and deliver major, high-impact infrastructure and economic development projects that balance economic, environmental and social outcomes.
- Provide strategic policy advice to senior leaders including the Minister, Coordinator-General and Director-General.
- Build and maintain trusted partnerships across industry, government and community, navigating competing interests and brokering integrated outcomes.
- Influence and negotiate complex commercial agreements that advance Queensland's priorities.
- Champion a high-performance team culture that is agile, values-led and committed to shaping Queensland's future.

What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a candidate with a blend of public and private sector experience, who thrives in ambiguity, leads with confidence, and brings strong commercial and political acumen. Success in this role will require strength in stakeholder engagement, complex project delivery, systems thinking, and a passion for making things possible.

Your professional track record in major project delivery, economic development or infrastructure strategy will be key to your success. Regular travel within Queensland may be required.

This is more than a job—it's an opportunity to drive legacy-defining outcomes for Queensland. Be part of something bigger. Be a State Shaper.
