About the role

The position provides clinical care within the Prison Mental Health Service which provides specialist mental health services to Correctional Centres in South East Queensland.

The key responsibilities of the role are: 

  • Provide clinical leadership within a clinical team to ensure that high quality mental health care is provided in a coordinated and efficient manner by a capable work force.
  • Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Uphold the organisation's values in your everyday actions as well as adhering to the Code of Conduct to consistently behave in an honest, ethical and professional way.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the Queensland Public Mental Health Services (QPMHS) Models of Service Delivery Framework and how these models guide Adult Mental Health Service Delivery.
  • Provide expert leadership and transparent accountability for the clinical team.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality care to consumers and carers through direct service provision, collaboration and mentoring of the multi-disciplinary staff, benchmarked to established professional standards and protocols. This includes providing recovery-orientated services supporting clients to develop a sense of hope, self-awareness and connectedness with their community and personal responsibility. Clients are supported to identify what is helpful and meaningful to them through a therapeutic partnership of equality and respect.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to clinical documentation standards and procedural guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Registration or eligibility for specialist registration as a psychiatrist with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Completion of an application of credentialing including certified copes of the required information and must be provided to the appropriate supervisor / manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • Possession of a certificate of advanced training in Forensic Psychiatry or similar qualification would be well regarded.
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
