The Clinical Nurse Consultant specialising in Syphilis in Pregnancy will be responsible for reviewing and providing guidance on service coordination to ensure comprehensive management and integrated care for women diagnosed with syphilis throughout their antenatal, birthing, and postnatal periods.

Additionally, they will identify systemic challenges and develop solutions aimed at enhancing the quality of care for women affected by or at risk of syphilis during pregnancy, with the ultimate goal of preventing congenital syphilis.

About us:

The Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health Service (BBV&SHS) is based in Rockhampton and provides assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment as well as education and health promotion to the community. The service has an identified focus on at risk population groups whose behaviours or social disadvantages may put them at a greater risk of contracting a blood borne virus or sexually transmissible infection.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Syphilis in Pregnancy) will:

  • Review and advise on service coordination for management and integrated care for women who have been diagnosed with syphilis in pregnancy across the antenatal, birthing, and postnatal periods, and
  • Identify systemic issues and solutions to support improved care for women experiencing or at risk of syphilis in pregnancy to prevent congenital syphilis.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • Possession of or working towards either post-registration qualifications or tertiary qualifications relevant to the position are highly desirable such as public health and sexual health qualifications.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
