Who We Are:
Far North Queensland Vocational Academy is an exciting regional initiative between TAFE Queensland Cairns, the Department of Education, and the Department of Trade, Employment and Training. The program allows students to study for their Queensland Certificate of Education as well as two Vocational Education and Training qualifications while at high school. Far North Queensland Vocational Academy aims to provide students with ‘real world' skills to gain a head start in the workforce. This is achieved by placing a strong emphasis on work placement and giving students opportunities to seek an apprenticeship or traineeship while completing senior schooling. Commencing a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship with Far North Queensland Vocational Academy allows school subjects, such as Maths and English, to be timetabled around work placement and training. This ensures a positive transition from school to work.
