As one of the OO4 Rangers in the Cairns North unit, you will be responsible for assisting the Ranger in Charge and the 2IC in the weekly planning and delivery of work, projects and outcomes according to annual work programs and will assist in supervising a small team. Exercising good communication and interpersonal skills in supervising teams or individuals to achieve outcomes is important. Similarly, the application of those skills in interactions with customers and stakeholders, including local Traditional Owner groups, is an important component of this role.
This position is mostly field based with much of the work program involving repairs and maintenance of visitor facilities and infrastructure and the walking track network, where extensive hand tools, chainsaw and machinery operation experience are highly desirable skills at this level.
Some areas of park estate have limited motorised vehicle access, and the conditions can be very physically challenging, including working in remote outdoor environments and rough terrain. This position requires a high level of fitness and can require working in challenging weather conditions.
