The role:

This role involves supporting the full technical lifecycle of a large-scale Secure Web Gateway, from implementation to ongoing operational support. Your hands-on work with the Palo Alto Prisma Access platform will ensure a quality solution that aligns with industry best practices and protects thousands of users.

Duties will include:

  • Administering the Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access platform (hybrid) and associated services to deliver the enterprise Secure Web Gateway.
  • Applying security-focused firewall policies, including URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and Application Control.
  • Managing SSL/TLS Decryption configurations to ensure secure inspection of web traffic.
  • Executing technical project tasks as part of the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the SWG.
  • Applying system upgrades, patches, and version releases in alignment with the ITIL Change and Release Management process.
  • Utilising strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex network, system, and application connectivity issues through the gateway.
  • Collaborating effectively with project managers, application owners, and operational stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Writing, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, including solution designs, configuration guides, and change records.
  • Configuring and verifying redundancy and failover mechanisms to ensure high availability of the security service.
  • Building isolated test environments and performing rigorous testing to validate configurations and policy changes.
  • Analysing existing security configurations and policies to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
  • Implementing and managing role-based access control (RBAC) policies for system administration.

To be successful in this role you will be a technical specialist who enjoys working collaboratively within a team. You will have a solid understanding of enterprise systems and a demonstrated ability to configure and document them according to best practice.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and promote Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) processes based on the ITIL framework, primarily incident / problem / change / release / configuration management. (SFIA Code: ITMG 5, USUP 4; PBMG 5; CHMG 4).
  • Secure Web Gateway (SWG): Hands-on experience with modern SWG solutions, preferably Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access (hybrid solution). This includes skills in physical firewalls, URL filtering, threat prevention, and SSL/TLS decryption. (SFIA: SCAD 5; NTAS 5; METL 5)
  • Networking: A strong practical understanding of enterprise networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and VPN technologies. (SFIA: NTOP 5; NTAS 5; ITOP 5)
  • Server Environments: A working knowledge of both Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux server operating systems and how they interact with network security services. (SFIA: HSIN 5; NTOP 5)
  • Analytical Skills: Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, allowing you to investigate and resolve complex technical issues on security platforms. (SFIA: INAS 5)
  • Project Contribution: Experience contributing your technical skills and knowledge to ICT projects to support the delivery of successful outcomes. (SFIA: PTMN 5; COLM 5)
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Good communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to consult effectively with technical stakeholders and maintain positive working relationships. (SFIA: CNSL 5; RLMT 5 )
