Your Opportunity

As the Cafe Supervisor you will be responsible for:

  • Effectively manage the day to day operations of the Seedpod Cafe to achieve educational and commercial outcomes and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

This position reports to the Operations Manager.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.

The position will be based primarily at Robina Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure an outstanding customer experience by:
    • managing Me&U and customer enquiries professionally and efficiently;
    • actively seek customer feedback and liaise with the service and kitchen staff to ensure feedback on menus and upcoming specials are communicated to the Demi Chef and Operations Manager; 
    • conduct pre-shift and/or pre-service briefings with all relevant staff;
    • liaise with TAFE Queensland staff to arrange internal catering for events as required.
  • Function in the capacity of a café all round staff member in the day to day operations of the cafe. E.g. front of house, back of house including Kitchenhand duties.
  • Work with the Director of Faculty to ensure that the café provides a seamless student experience, providing high quality learning outcomes whilst maintaining commercial viability and an excellent customer experience. 
  • Report to the Operations Manager with regard to labour hire needs, staffing & student concerns, customer feedback, outside catering, daily sales and other requirements as necessary.
  • Supervise staff, which will include students, on each shift for the café ensuring that service, uniform and grooming standards are adhered to.
  • Provide guidance to staff and students in the use of the Point of Sale and Me&U system and how equipment is used in the front of house.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing coaching to front of house staff and students at the café.
  • Manage the Point of Sale system daily, reporting sales and balancing the till
  • Manage the ordering of café supplies in line with budget requirements
  • Consider the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and incorporate sustainable practices into all aspects of the role and service delivery.
  • Model and actively promote an ethical and safe work environment that supports a culture of best practice regarding health, safety, wellness and sustainability.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated experience in managing a team in a busy fast paced venue.
  2. Proven experience in building and sustaining productive internal and external relationships and working collaboratively.
  3. Experience in managing Point of Sale systems and in coaching others on how to use them.
  4. High level communication, coaching and customer service skills.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the ability to adapt sustainable practices into all aspects of the role and service delivery.
  • Understanding of the vocational training system in Australia for hospitality and cookery
