The Role 

We have an exciting permanent full-time Senior Events and Engagement Officer position available to join our Marketing, PR and Events team at TAFE Queensland’s South Brisbane Campus.

As a Senior Events and Engagement Officer, you will:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of high-impact events and engagement initiatives that align with TAFE Queensland, Brisbane region’s business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of the events calendar, drive stakeholder engagement, and ensure the effective delivery of marketing and brand objectives through event-based experiences, in line with an approved Events budget.

This position reports to the Manager, Marketing, PR and Events.

Salary

The salary range for a Senior Events and Engagement Officer is $117,537.45 - $125,531.21 (gross) per annum plus superannuation contributions of 12.75% of your salary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.  
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Marketing Public Relations and Events develop, plan and implement TAFE Queensland Brisbane’s annual events calendar, including open days, graduations, corporate functions, industry engagements, and sponsorships.
  • Ensure all events align with TAFE Queensland’s marketing and engagement objectives, including student acquisition, retention, and experience, while maintaining consistency with brand guidelines, marketing strategies, and audience engagement objectives.
  • Develop comprehensive well-structured business proposals for significant marketing events, aimed at securing endorsement from Brisbane region’s Senior Leadership Team. 
  • Under the authorisation of the Manager, Marketing Public Relations and Events coordinate the annual events budget by tracking, monitoring, and reviewing expenditure in accordance with approved briefs and TAFE Queensland’s policies and procedures.
  • Monitor event performance, gather insights and present reports on key success metrics to inform improvements and assess event value and return on investment.
  • Assist in developing a communication and marketing strategy to support the Marketing, Events and Public Relations team to promote events across digital, social, and traditional media channels, ensuring alignment with TAFE Queensland’s brand positioning.
  • Maintain high levels of communication to effectively liaise, negotiate, consult, influence and problem solve with a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal and external clients whilst fostering collaborative relationships.
  • Lead, mentor, supervise and develop the Events and Engagement Officer, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Undertake other tasks and projects as required at the direction of the Manager, Marketing, Public Relations and Events. 

How you will be assessed

Within the context of the role description above, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated experience in developing, planning, and implementing an events calendar to promote a commercial business.
  2. Proven ability to manage events from initial briefing to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  3. Demonstrated interpersonal skills in negotiation, influencing and listening with a strong ability to develop and maintain relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  4. Proven flexibility, personal drive, integrity and the initiative to adopt a positive and balanced approach to work in a dynamic, complex and competitive organisation.
  5. Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to manage the flow of people and business, liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders regarding confidential matters and maintain effective working relationships in a high-pressure environment.
  6. Proven ability to lead by example, provide clear direction and guidance, supervise, coach and support team members to successfully meet team goals.

Highly Desirable

 Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:

  • A qualification in marketing, public relations, event planning or business.
  • Experience in event planning, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership within a large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of event technologies, platforms (e.g. Microsoft 365, Events Air, Marketo etc), and industry best practices.
