Assistant Prevention Officer

Assistant Crime Prevention Officer sits within the Crime Prevention Programs Unit which is responsible for delivery of evidence-based prevention initiatives focusing on community perceptions of safety, and responding to community safety priorities, in line with QPS strategic priorities.
The unit also manages community policing programs such as Neighbourhood Watch Queensland, LGBTQIA+ Liaison Program and Volunteers in Policing Program. The unit is a small, friendly team with opportunities to develop skills and knowledge across several portfolios.

Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Regularly contribute to the ongoing development and/or review of prevention policy and projects.
• Actively liaise and participate in multi-disciplinary teams involved in organisational and/or operational improvement initiatives related to prevention.
• Assist in the delivery of evidence-based prevention initiatives associated with harm minimisation and victim-centric approaches to community safety issues with a particular focus on perceptions of safety.
• Undertake event planning, coordination and delivery of prevention programs in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide relevant support to projects and programs managed by the unit as directed by management in relation to crime prevention.
Role Requirements
Qualification
• Qualifications and/or experience in crime prevention, managing events, project management, public relations and/or other relevant fields is desirable.
Other
• The occupant of this position may be required to travel throughout the State as required.
