Reporting Practice Lead

The Reporting Practice Lead plays a critical role in shaping and delivering high-quality reporting and data visualisation services that support performance monitoring and strategic decision-making across the Cross River Rail program. Working closely with the Program Information Manager, this role leads a team of data analysts and engineers to transform complex project data into actionable insights. It oversees the development of reporting tools and dashboards across civil, rail, and systems design, construction, testing, commissioning, and assurance activities, including key delivery streams such as TSD, RIS, ETCS, NGCS, and Integrated Delivery. The role also contributes to the development of Program Information products that align with the Delivery Authority data strategy and governance protocols, ensuring reporting outputs are accurate, timely, and strategically valuable.

Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane. It is a catalyst for wider rail transformation across South East Queensland and is already playing a key role in preparing for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line, including 5.9km of twin tunnels under the Brisbane River and CBD, with four new underground stations. The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also tasked with multiple supporting projects and activities, including accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new Gold Coast stations, upgrades to stabling yards, track works and surface rail enhancements, and the rollout of a new world-class digital train signalling system.

About the Role

The Reporting Practice Lead plays a critical role in delivering high quality reporting and data visualisation services that support performance monitoring and strategic decision-making across the Cross River Rail program. Working closely with the Program Information Manager, this role leads a team of data analysts and engineers to transform complex project data into actionable insights. It oversees the development of reporting tools and dashboards across civil, rail, and systems design, construction, testing, commissioning, and assurance activities, including key delivery streams such as TSD, RIS, ETCS, NGCS, and Integrated Delivery. The role also contributes to developing Program Information products that align with the Delivery Authority's data strategy and governance protocols, ensuring reporting outputs are accurate, timely, and strategically valuable.

This opportunity is offered as a 2 year fixed term contract with possible extensions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and implementation of reporting and visualisation services
  • Manage and mentor a team of data analysts and engineers
  • Engage stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure reporting meets program needs
  • Ensure quality assurance and alignment with program standards
  • Collaborate across Program Controls Reporting Services teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in reporting practices

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Min 5 years experience in project and/or change management, including leadership roles in reporting, analytics, business intelligence and data visualisation
  • Proven ability to lead teams, structure workflows, and manage delivery of analytical products
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or capital projects (highly desirable)
  • Advanced Power BI proficiency, including data modelling, dashboard development, and visualisation.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data modelling, and SQL for transformation
  • Familiar with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA
  • Ability to build and maintain reporting tools for operational and strategic decision-making
  • Skilled in user-centric visualisation solutions that drive insight and intelligence
  • Experience leading change, including adoption of new platforms, systems, and practices
  • Applied frameworks such as PMBOK, Prosci, or ITIL in reporting workflows
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Skilled in building partnerships across teams and stakeholder groups
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen to turn data into insights for executive decisions
  • Solid understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance in multi-agency programs
