The Intelligence Advisor will be responsible for the in-depth collection, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of timely intelligence advice to appropriate Agency personnel and external stakeholders to inform decision making to manage risk within the operating environment. As an experienced intelligence practitioner, the Intelligence Advisor provides guidance, mentorship and professional advice to junior intelligence staff.
Intelligence Advisors deal with a broad scope of intelligence issues that extends beyond the immediate environment and handles escalated security threats, providing comprehensive intelligence advice that supports the implementation of risk management strategies to maintain the security, good order and management of offenders within correctional facilities and the wider community.

The Intelligence Advisor will:
- Monitor prisoner activities, focusing on the collection, analysis and reporting of critical threats, risks and issues relevant to the agency.
- Identify potential targets, along with associated risks and emerging trends critical for maintaining safety and security.
- Prepare and disseminate quality intelligence products, that seeks to inform and influence internal external stakeholders on matters of emerging threats and issues impacting the correctional environment and community.
- Develop and maintain strong networks with internal and external stakeholders though information sharing and adopting a collaborative approach to risk management strategies.
- Contribute to the Intelligence Management Plan and Information Collection Plan to meet operational requirements.
- Provide informal training, mentoring and professional practice advice to staff.
- Prepare comprehensive and timely intelligence advice to management and stakeholders on operational, tactical and strategic issues.
- Interview informants to gather information about potential threats, illicit activities, or prisoner and offender behaviour.
- Support intelligence awareness amongst staff to promote the value and use of intelligence as a risk mitigation strategy.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of intelligence, covering a broad spectrum of sources and threats.
- Employ advanced analytical techniques to derive actionable intelligence from diverse data sets.
- Contribute to a positive team culture that values diversity and interacts effectively with diverse target groups.
Previous experience working within an intelligence, or criminal justice environment would be highly regarded.
Completion of nationally recognised training or qualifications in a relevant field (intelligence, criminology, criminal justice, etc) would be highly desirable.
The successful applicant may be required to undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Corrective Services Academy within 12 months of their appointment.
Applicants must be able to maintain a security clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1) if required.
Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
Applicants are advised they may be required to interview and engage directly with offenders as part of their duties.
The incumbent may be required to travel on official business therefore the possession of a valid C class licence is required.
Membership within a recognised professional association will also be highly regarded.
