Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River with four new underground stations. The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also tasked with multiple supporting projects including  rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, upgrades for stabling yard, track works , and the introduction of a new world-class digital train signalling system.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to region-shaping infrastructure projects and to be a part of something that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

About the Role

This is a rare opportunity to lead the strategic delivery of customer-facing network changes on one of QLD's most complex and high-impact infrastructure programs. You will drive the coordination of major rail network disruptions and the operationalisation of new and upgraded stations across the project.

The role provides leadership and oversight across two dedicated streams, Network Changes and Station Changes, through direct management of their respective managers. It ensures these teams are aligned and resourced to deliver complex, high-impact change events. Coordination across both streams is critical to managing cumulative impacts, maintaining accessibility, service continuity and operational readiness.

A key focus of the role is identifying and managing risks related to network disruptions and station openings. You will work closely with Government agencies including with Queensland Rail and TMR, while leading the development and refinement of governance, assurance and reporting frameworks that support effective decision-making and successful day-of-operations execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning and execution of station openings, closures and major service disruptions
  • Manage the team to ensure coordinated delivery aligned with project milestones and operational objectives.
  • ·Oversee operational readiness planning and real-time event execution, including “day of operations” coordination and escalation
  • Establish and maintain governance, assurance and risk frameworks
  • Mitigate cumulative impacts of concurrent construction activities on customer access and network performance
  • Represent CRRDA in high-level stakeholder forums, governance groups, and incident/event briefings
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting to executive leadership and ministerial offices
  • Lead post-event reviews and continuous improvement cycles
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and drive collaboration across government agencies and delivery partners.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and capability development to team

About You:

  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams in the execution of complex works programs with significant operational and customer impacts
  • Strong knowledge of public transport operations, with experience managing major network disruptions and/or the introduction of new infrastructure or assets
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence at senior levels
  • High-level planning, risk management and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to produce concise, high-quality reports, briefings and presentations
  • Strong adaptability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities
