About us: The outer western region of our service includes extremely remote communities. Cairns Hospital is the only major referral hospital in Far North Queensland and also provides care for people from Cape York and the Torres Strait.

About your role:

  • Deliver high-level evidence-based social work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics; AASW professional practice standards; and relevant AASW Scope/s of Practice.
  • Work autonomously and independently. Apply professional judgement and decision making to manage a complex and varied caseload, adapting routine and non-routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable clinical evidence.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, develop appropriate intervention plans, and achieve outcomes, informed by high-level social work theory and contemporary knowledge of social determinants of health; medical terminology; legislation; resources; services and policy requirements.
  • Translate information from clinical assessments and diagnostic conclusions into appropriate social work interventions.
