Senior Conservation Officer

Spatial Services provides direction and support for spatial information solutions including the custodianship and distribution of corporate spatial datasets, and through the provision of standards, governance and training relating to spatial information capability across the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships Division.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing and delivering key aspects of Park Services’ Spatial projects in accordance with established project management methodologies, principles and practice.
You will be part of a state-wide technical support and leadership team responsible for ensuring a consistent and high standard approach to spatial analysis and mapping across QPWS&P.

As the Senior Conservation Officer, you will:
• Support and guide operational programs to deliver spatial data management, mapping, analysis and development, and provide input to associated operational policies, guidelines and procedures
• Undertake research, identify issues and develop systems, procedures and standards to support delivery of spatial data management activities on protected areas
• Contribute to the preparation of correspondence, reports, submissions, maps, analytics and briefing papers to accurately inform decision-making.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships and consultative processes with internal and external stakeholders including members of the community, Indigenous peoples, special interest groups, other government agencies (local, state and federal) and industries relevant to effective spatial data management on the protected area estate.
• Assist the Manager to represent QPWS&P in industry forums, interdepartmental and other committees
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
