As the Senior Developer, you will:
• Be responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of systems (WaTERS, Work Request Notice Board, Load calculation tool, etc).
• Work with the group's scientists to capture and convert scientific approaches and methodologies into software systems.
• Provide proactive leadership in undertaking systems analysis and design in relation to enhancements of existing systems.
• Be involved in all stages of the software development life cycles. This includes providing advice to scientists in terms of developing technical innovative solutions in a cost-effective manner.
• Provide effective, timely, client focused incident and problem management analysis and resolution for supported systems consistent with Departmental and WoG standards.
• Maintain application databases which can include generating ad-hoc reports and performing queries to verify data integrity.
• Adress reported vulnerabilities and penetration testing outcomes.
• Deliver high quality customer service through quality system documentation and industry best practice frameworks, and continually improving delivery methods.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
For this role, you'll need to:
• Be able to program in platforms such as TypeScript, JavaScript, C Sharp, .NET Framework, using acquired knowledge and competence in current best practice software engineering, with specific focus on end user computing, REST API's and corporate applications.
• Understand and use current web front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and JavaScript libraries, in particular React.
• Demonstrate understanding of cloud infrastructure technologies such as Amazon Web Services.
• Follow industry standards including security best practices.
• Effectively manage agreed priorities, meet deadlines and delivers tasks through to completion.
• Communicate, liaise and negotiate when providing advice and services.
• Be able to apply written skills, particularly with respect to software programming and documentation.
• Role model Individual Contributor leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership competencies for Queensland.
• Contribute to workplace safety, equity, diversity, respect and inclusion by bringing your unique experiences and perspectives.
