Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold a high level of animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and in compliance with legislation. With a commitment to developing capabilities and preparedness, we are at the forefront of protecting
Queensland against biosecurity risks. Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.
As our Compliance Coordinator, you will provide investigative and risk management skills and support to help manage the impacts of invasive plants and animals in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• Identify, respond to and investigate alleged breaches of the Biosecurity Act 2014 with regard to electric ants; and contribute to the continuous improvement, review and implementation of compliance strategies, plans and procedures.
• can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
• are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
