Principal Policy Officer

As Principal Policy Officer, Specialist Projects, you will play a pivotal role in large projects involving complex legal and policy issues. You will drive strategic project management, operational policy analysis and development, and implementation of reforms that shape the future of court and tribunal services.
You will assist development and implementation of strategy, policy and procedures that support the new Criminal Procedure (Magistrates Court) Bill replacing the Justices Act 1886, and to respond to emerging issues impacting operations in the Childrens Court and across the courts’ criminal jurisdiction.

Your key responsibilities
• Lead planning, governance, implementation and evaluation of priority projects that involve complex legal and policy issues impacting CSQ.
• Provide strategic policy advice on the operational impacts for CSQ arising from complex legislative and public policy reforms.
• Support the identification and implementation of process redesign opportunities that address strategic and operational priorities, driving innovation and delivering measurable improvements.
• Coordinate and provide responses to complex and high-profile operational policy issues impacting CSQ, including preparing departmental and ministerial briefs and correspondence.
• Prepare complex government submissions to support the implementation of legislative and public policy reforms in CSQ, including the development of options.
• Guide the development of best-practice policies and procedures to support implementation of legislative and public policy reforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in interdepartmental and interagency meetings as required.
