About the role
The Nurse Unit Manager provides leadership, management and expertise in the Oncology, Palliative Care and Medical Unit. The Nurse Unit Manager positively influences the outcome of patient centred care through effective management skill, support and role modelling contemporary best practice and evidence, team building and guiding clinical care and service delivery.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrates advanced specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills in oncology, palliative care and general medical nursing.
- Possesses advanced operational leadership and management skills and qualities which are used to assess, guide and contribute to the implementation of contemporary, innovative and evidence based clinical practices.
- Contributes to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care, engaging with other disciplines / team members where relevant.
- Demonstrates advanced critical thinking and reasoning, expert problem skills and clinical judgement for patients and is a capable coach for the broader team.
- Develops the capacity of key stakeholders to improve care service delivery using a robust contemporary clinical knowledge and professional judgement.
- Demonstrates proven ability to effectively work autonomously and as a team member, as well as the ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads the application and evaluation of contemporary human, material, and financial resource management.
- Exemplifies the West Moreton Health Professional Practice Model by demonstrating person-centred care, professional excellence, safe and effective care delivery, commitment to quality and safety, and collaborative practice.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
