Program benefits
Successful applicants will receive a $20,000 pre-tax scholarship (over 4 instalments) during their first year of full-time Initial Teacher Education study. In their second year, they'll undertake a paid internship in a Queensland State School (25 hours a fortnight) while studying part-time. The internship includes a full-time intern teacher salary, support from a supervising and mentor teacher, and access to a Community of Practice.
Eligibility for the TTT Program
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree (minimum 3-year Bachelor) in a field other than education/teaching and meet the requirements of one of the following categories:
- Individuals who have not previously commenced an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program and are:
- eligible to enrol in and commence an approved ITE program (e.g. Master of Teaching) in Semester / Trimester 1 2026, at a partnering university.
- Individuals who have previously commenced but not completed an ITE Program and:
- are not eligible for any recognised prior learning from a partnering HEI (usually commenced ITE program 10+ years prior).
- have completed a maximum of 2 courses / units only (maximum 24CP) of an ITE program (e.g. Master of Teaching) with a partnering HEI at the time of commencement in Semester/Trimester 1 2026 and are eligible to continue enrolment or qualify to re-enrol (please note that academic transcript must be included in your application).
Eligible applicants must also be eligible for enrolment in one of the following ITE programs from Semester/Trimester 1, 2026:

- Griffith University: Master of Primary Teaching or Master of Secondary Teaching
- University of Southern Queensland: Master of Learning and Teaching (Primary) or Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary)
- Queensland University of Technology: Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary)
- University of Sunshine Coast: Master of Teaching (Secondary)
- Australian Catholic University: Master of Teaching (Secondary)
- University of Queensland: Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary)
- be willing to commence full time study in Trimester/Semester 1, 2026 and be able to successfully complete a year of full-time study in Year 1 of the TTT Program, reducing to part-time study in the second year of the TTT Program (2027)
- be willing to undertake an internship in 2027 at any state school located within a priority region of QLD*
- demonstrate commitment to teach an in-demand subject area including the secondary subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Technologies, or teaching in an in-demand subject area within a Special Education setting
- be able to commit to a permanent teaching position in a priority region of QLD upon completion of the TTT Program for 2–3 years
- be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.
Those who specialise in other subject areas (including primary) not listed above may apply, however, preference will be given to those who will be able to teach the in-demand subject / curriculum areas.
Preference will be given to applicants who are willing to undertake their internship and commit to a permanent teaching position for 2–3 years in one of the department's priority regions. These regions include Central QLD, Darling Downs South West, Far North QLD, and North QLD.

Program offers
Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer for the TTT Program, pending evidence of enrolment in a relevant postgraduate ITE program at a participating HEI and confirmation of approved Teaching Areas by the HEI.
Permanent employment will follow completion of the ITE course and TTT Program, provisional registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT), and meeting all departmental employment requirements.
Payment of the scholarship
The scholarship funds will be deposited in four instalments into the recipients' bank account. All payments are taxed and may affect the recipient's annual income and/or benefits received. It is recommended that financial advice is obtained from a financial advisor, the ATO and/or Services Australia.
