The purpose of the role is to lead a program of work by actively liaising with stakeholders across school transport projects/matters to successfully build strong collaboration amongst all parties to ensure a consistent understanding of policy objectives and outcomes to deliver a unified approach to school transport matters.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Internal and external environment: lead the reform program of work and actively contribute to the strategic vision and direction for school transport in Queensland including effective implementation across all areas of the business.
  • School Transport: develop a holistic understanding of how the Department plans, manages and delivers school transport services throughout Queensland.
  • Engagement: liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather contextual insights about individual project objectives, milestones and deliverables in order to align benefits across the different projects.
  • Risk management: provide advice and identify key risks in contractual arrangements of medium complexity. This would involve facilitating input from legal, technical and commercial specialists, and implementing appropriate measures to identify risks on an ongoing basis.
  • Financial: provide strategic input on the impact of an evolving business environment on service provider payments and work with the business to streamline reporting processes.
  • Legislative, probity and ethics: engage with a thorough understanding of public procurement probity and ethical processes and lead by example to ensure all codes of practice (for example, ethics, probity, health and safety) are fully understood and consistently applied across the team.

To be successful in this position, we are looking for someone who possess:

  • Decisive Decision-Making - High-level skills in making courageous and insightful decisions under pressure with available information in a complex and dynamic business environment
  • Change Leadership - Demonstrated experience in leading change in complex environments by communicating the rationale and intended outcomes, empowering teams to embrace uncertainty, and maintaining focus and optimism during transitions.
  • Influential Communication - Strong ability to build and maintain relationships by tailoring messages to diverse stakeholders, initiating two-way collaborations, and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes through active listening and understanding of different perspectives.
  • Governance and Accountability - Commitment and obligation to sound governance by promoting integrity in processes and resource management, analysing risks, and empowering teams to incorporate risk management into planning and delivery.
